Experience is the best teacher; it is no gainsay because it teaches you what you can't acquire from a definite school of thought. It covers what you've learnt, unlearn and relearn in virtually all school of thought you come across.

Certificate is an award for excelling in a chosen career path and it mostly depict cerebral power and psychomotor skills. It is not a license that guarantees total requisite needed for the next phase of your life.

Experience comes with what you've learnt consciously, subconsciously or unconsciously. It deals directly with the human universe -- body, mind and soul plus the center of the universe which is the heart. Although when working to earn the certificate, there are levels of emotional stability one must attain to balance the intelligent quotient (IQ). But certificates do not show that, it focuses mainly on how well you've mastered the field and not what surrounds the process during the course of study.

Myopically, a high level of intelligent quotient is required in order to have a good certificate. For experience, it is a blend of emotional quotient (EQ) and intelligent quotient (IQ).

The greatest gift one can give oneself is building your EQ, though having a high IQ is great and will make people move around you by paving way for you in their heart but EQ will put you in people's heart and make their heart yours. You can have a high IQ and still suffer emotional pain and distraught but most likely than not people with high EQ show tendencies of good brain power.

The maxim "Your attitude determines your altitude" was put forward when philosophers researched character ethics. Your attitude is as a result of the level of emotional stability you've attained. Your certificate obtained through utilising IQ will get you a job but the experience you garner utilising the combination of EQ and IQ will keep the job for you. All facet of work environment is filled with people that will provoke you and your EQ allows you to deal with them accordingly without stepping on the cobra's tail and keep your job.

In soccer, players provoke their opponent because they knew that once they retaliated, they receive their marching order from the referee which is to their own advantage. In a broader sense, let's examine this scenario of an interview session conducted on the submission of a business proposal. One of the interviewee knew that other interviewees will table how they would go about the project intelligently. He reasoned that most interviewee would likely showcase a good IQ to want to win it and he has an equally fair chance of being selected based on IQ.

So he tried to outsmart them by showing his EQ. He walked up to the interviewers confidently and shook hands with a big grin. He took the session by storm by commencing with a conversation on the painting on the wall.

He immersed the interviewers in his knowledge of the painting by showing his oratory power. They were caught in the web and was lost in the pool of oration when the time keeper had signalled to end the session. People don't excel in interviews based on submission of certificates, proposals and CVs but from the emotional awareness that surrounds the interview. No interviewer will want to give out jobs to someone with high IQ but lack emotional awareness --shyness, apprehension and so on; these are setbacks to the certificate you earn.

The interviewee won the business proposal because he was emotionally aware of the rules, he bent the rules and tweaked it to his advantage. If he was not experienced in that regard, then his certificate alone couldn't have done it.

Experience is the certificate you need to break and conquer any field.

Sometimes it occurs that we are not conscious of our identity and try to wander who we really are. This literary piece decipher the myth surrounding our identity.



As the sun glides to rest
The moon kisses the ocean
Waves of disdainful ocean current blow from the west
Gushing water from the spring sprang up my emotions
Could this be real?
What if I'm in a world where I don't exist?

As the morning wind blow softly,
The oregold-yellow sun stretches its hands gently,
To the trees, as their stems shoot uprightly.
Stimulating my ears are the tunes of their hymns,
The hymns from the brook of the forest and the leaves.
Could I be a shutterbug, trying to capture the nature?
What if I'm in a world, dwelling in the forest as a bird?

As the waves were cresting in the storm
The sunchoke surge the plains of the hill
To the rosebushes, protecting them from the freeze,
Waxing and buffing the savanna with skill.
The sweetish smell distorts my olfactory lobe, sending a salivating shockwaves down my limbs.
Could I be a butterfly, trying to steal a lick?
What if I'm a specie with fluttering flight?

As I walked through the north,
Far down in the ever confusing world,
A mountain's spring emanating from the unconfined aquifers,
Surrounded by the luminous wasps in the body of the waters,
All echoed, echoed and kept echoing my name ,
My spirit evoked, as the sounds enfold my physical frame,
The whole of it into the oceanic realm
Could I possibly be a mermaid?
Attracted to the waters due to my frond of lush foliage?
What if in this world that I am, I'm a Naiad?

Oh! where art thou, thy consciousness?
A slumber have I been or in a deep rest?
I'd been through different realms in a state of forgetfulness.
My blood is still circulating, all I'd thought is nothingness

O! Nirvanic soul in fervor
Look beyond the premonition
For what your thought offered you are tremor
Cast your mind away from the superstition
How could you tell if it were real?

Thorn in the rose

Human beings are wonderful creatures, perfectly crafted, beautifully woven into shape and carefully sorted by emotions. Humans seek each other hoping to find a reflection of themselves in others, with a mindset of pure human with no flaw(s). They automatically connect with a being that share the same philosophy and ideas as them. Once they find the ones they are in sync with, a bit of challenges arises because they can't find a true reflection of themselves in others but only a semblance.

The reason is that humans comes in different grades, you can't have a perfect human without tweaking some things either through tolerance or patience. The major reason why there exist a change is the way and manner in which we curtail our emotions. Some people can't help but to blame others when a misfortune befall them while some pass through the challenge in quietude.

Life on earth is like an odyssey, ranging from mental to emotional odysseys, from physical to spiritual odysseys. This voyage is usually marked by a swift change in fortune. At a point, you're getting it right and some other you're lost. This brings about a sudden change in attitude and perception of ideas. Only people with high emotional quotient can meander through the tidal waves of the odyssey. At the end of each odyssey comes a series of experiences that give knowledge and understanding in a whole new concept ready to be utilized in the next voyage.

We often notice a change in personality of the people we love and cherish but we can't know if the person is going through something sinister and which could bring out a baleful or loathsome character. But we would be taken aback by the change in attitude and character, don't paint the person bad because of a change in personality.

In other to have a peaceful coexistence amongst ourselves, it would be nice to try and talk up the changes you perceived; but if the individual is unwilling to share what went wrong, then it is better to let him pass through the storm. We can help our self by viewing it as a thorn in the rose.

No one dislikes the smell of a rose,but we forget that there's something that comes with the rose that could make us care less about the smell of a rose, and that is the 'thorn'. What if you have a thorn free rose but later found out that a thorn lies within the rose. What would happen?
Throw the rose away and be short of its fragrance? Remove the thorn and savour the luscious smell of the rose?
Whatever option is your choice,you must not be found wanting of a rose in life.
Human beings are like rose,we have the bad side which is the thorn. A bad person can still have something good to offer it's just that 'Good' is a word misunderstood by him.
Bottom line is endeavour to see the good in people and relationship. Be positive always.

Unleash your potential

Every individual is awashed with different traits and talents. Our body is a depository of knowledge,wisdom and understanding; and this spur out the talent in us.

Have you ever wondered why you excel dramatically in a new task beyond your expectation to your own amusement.

It is as a result of an untapped ocean of talent lying in wait to be utilized judiciously. Your mind begin to dazzle. So I can do this, wow! I didn't know I have this talent.

Being amused is not enough, the question is do you want to develop your newly discovered talent?
The ability to push yourself to learn more about your newly discovered talent is essential. The truth is no matter the level of your talent, there are people who are leading in your 'talent sphere'. Self discipline is required to push yourself to learn and practise more till you are a recognized authority in your 'talent sphere'.

Do you think you can ever attain your full potential?
 If yes, think about those ability you neglected because of one reason or the other, think about those talents you've forsaken because you think you can't excel due to a number of people achieving great things and you feel you can't match them.

Those are talents that failed to reach its full potential because of lack of purpose and low self-esteem. Nobody asked you to match them, you can definitely surpass them provided you're prepared.

Tip on how to be prepared.

Do not think low of yourself, the only person you must try to surpass is the person you're yesterday. Be in constant competition with yourself and pay attention to the little details your mind whispers to you.

When you set goals because you want to compete with others, you cannot always be the front runner in the race. At a point in time, you will be on the back foot and this can cause a negative atmosphere around your ability.

The best way to fully maximise your potential is to diversify your talent and the uniqueness in you starts to manifest.


Let's visualize a scenario of a farmer who cultivates the land and harvest cassava. Of course, there will be an income generated through the sale of cassava.

What if he didn't stopped at selling the cassava and further think of how to process it into grains?

What if he establishes a cassava bread factory?

What if he processes it into starch?

What if he processes into tapioca for making dessert?

What if a renewable energy is generated from the wastes obtained during processing?

There are a number of other options to think of. If he had done the above,he would likely find himself in the following

• A farmer
• Owner of a processing plant
• Owner of a bakery
• An advocate for green energy

And that's what talent needs, diversify your talent to explore other fields so that you can reach your full potential, before you know it,another talent is unlocked.

Before you quit series 2

I believed that we've immersed ourselves in the key information from series 1. We've carried out some reality check about those things we could have done and how great it would have been if we hadn't given up. We fantasized about the success it could've yielded and we blame ourselves for not being a little patient.

At that point,stop blaming yourself because you've been over thinking and it damages the brain. It's the thorn in the rose. Stop over thinking and look beyond the thorn, what you see is the rose. How beautiful it is to behold!

There's no point in brooding or complaining about what you're unable to achieve because you've put in your all but the stage is not set for you to take over. It's telling you that the best is still to come,keep pushing.

Now you begin to wonder,how would I know it is about time success showed up. Success is an idea in its infancy,like a baby. It will grow up if you nurture it with the right love,care and attitude. And that's what success needs, if you don't love the outcome,you can't begin the process; if you don't care for what it yields,you can't put all your universe into it; and if you can't fathom how great success will affect your attitude,then don't scale the altitude for it.

Successful people conceive ideas in their mind facilitated by the brain and think through paper. When it appears that you really want to quit, take a piece of paper,write down 3 reasons why you must not quit and 3 reasons why you must quit. You know why?

The reasons behind 'must not quit' is the positive energy and the reasons behind 'must quit' is the corrective measure to spur you on.

The answer that conjure the 'must' and 'must not' will come up by itself on paper like magic. But the magic lies in being truthful to yourself.

Failure is never and option and so does quitting. Success is never an option either, it is the utmost priority.

Long walk to freedom

June 12

Today Nigerians celebrate democracy through the patient struggle and fight for one Nigeria led by our icon Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.

But the truth is we didn't imbibe the teachings of our heroes past. The work of our heroes past went down the drain.

One nation bound in different kinds of sabotage from the children to their parents,from the youth to the elder statesmen,from the state level to federal level,from the legislative to the judiciary. To cut it short, corruption has eaten deep into the roots of the beautiful trees planted by our heroes past.

We need to arise and free ourselves from this miasma of frivolous activities hovering over our heads. It's our fight, no one will fight it for us because as an independent nation we need to face our fears. It's a collective effort to allay our fears and fight for our beloved nation.

So, on this day I wrote a short poem using the autobiography of one of the greatest leader and elder statesman - Nelson Rohlilala Mandela Madiba, titled long walk to freedom.

LONG WALK TO FREEDOM

O' Ye enshroud in hypnopompia
Arise and get out of hypnogogia
Take a trip to Nigeria
Where nepotism is a criteria
Where bad governance is a bacteria
Where selfish "whims and desires" is the mitochondria
Where black gold is a diphtheria
Where the hiatus between the rich and poor is like the peninsula of iberia
Where animals value money,dining in the cafeteria
The 'big wigs' trick the masses with hypochondria
Alas,frivolous activities display the tune of the day like an aria
Won't you rather take the long walk to freedom like Gaviria?

Has thou seeth not how the Lord created thee?

He created you from a fusion of despised water.

He made you appear first like a thick clot in view.

His mercy encompasses all and made you survive the lauter.

Under the shades of darkness you blossom.

Until the promise of the lord came, Ye shall remain entrapped in obscurity.

Uhn! The appointed time came, you were born out of sweet pain.

Ungrateful much, yet he showered you with rains of blessing and security.

Many have trodden the path of ungratefulness but at the end they found naught.

Manner maketh man; it's of God to gift it unto whomsoever he wishes.

Make hay while the sun shines by remembering your lord in thine youthful days.

Mixing and replacing divine words with the love of worldly things leads to fraught and emotional distraught.

Atrocities and malice became thine watchword.

And the whispering of the devil is the music humans dance to and go crazy about.

All and sundry wallow in the bellows of frivolous activities which is a mirage created by the cunning masters of the world.

Avenge thine self by swimming in the pool of repentance and remain submerged till it dries out.

Never remain in an unrepentant state for the punishment of God is nigh.

Niggardliness takes the blessing of the lord farther away; you're warned of it,so take heed.

Nay! Do you think prudence and hard work will make you prosper? Unless it has been ordained by the most high.

Noblest of humans are those who took heed of the Lord's injunctions and cautions; surely the ultimate success is guaranteed.
